That big chains can't imitate the good taste and local traditions of passionate chefs.
And some families have a tradition of creating great meals that deserve to be shared with other families.
It was this spirit that motivated long-time restauranteur Alicia Dodd to create a new restaurant in Liberty Lake where families like hers can enjoy a meal made with fresh ingredients and featuring house-made specialities.
These days her sons, Beaux and Brad Dodd, carry on that tradition every day, but Mom will still occasionally be seen.
Not so much to check on her boys, but to stop in for a good meal.
